# Deskcrumbs > Deskcrumbs is a free sticky notes app for macOS 14 Sonoma or later (Apple silicon and Intel). Each sticky lives on its own desktop (Space) and slides with it, formats Markdown as you type, and is saved as a plain Markdown file in `~/Notes/stickies` that any editor, script or AI agent can read and write. Key facts: - Price: free. No account, no ads, no trial. Optional tips at https://deskcrumbs.com/support. - Platform: native macOS menu bar app (no Dock icon). Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later; universal (Apple silicon and Intel). - Distribution: download from deskcrumbs.com (signed with a Developer ID, notarized by Apple). Not on the Mac App Store, because it needs Accessibility and macOS desktop (Spaces) features the App Store sandbox doesn't allow. - Storage: one plain Markdown file per sticky in `~/Notes/stickies`, synced live both ways. Writing a new `.md` file there creates a sticky on the current desktop; deleting the file closes it. - Privacy: no analytics in the app; its only network request is a daily update check to deskcrumbs.com. - Made by Laurel Daigneault. Closed source. - Website languages: English (https://deskcrumbs.com/), French (https://deskcrumbs.com/fr/), Spanish (https://deskcrumbs.com/es/). ## Download and releases - [Download Deskcrumbs for Mac](https://deskcrumbs.com/download): redirects to the newest signed, notarized DMG - [Latest release (JSON)](https://deskcrumbs.com/latest.json): current version, build, file name, size and date - [Release feed](https://deskcrumbs.com/appcast.xml): every version with release notes (Sparkle appcast) ## Details - [Full description](https://deskcrumbs.com/llms-full.txt): features, keyboard shortcuts, installation, how the files work, privacy and frequently asked questions, in Markdown - [Website](https://deskcrumbs.com/): the same information with a live demo that runs the app's real editor ## Optional - [Leave a tip](https://deskcrumbs.com/support): Ko-fi tip jar for people who want to say thanks
